F.A.Q.
In the past, we haven’t kept a record of questions so this
page will grow as questions come in.
- Can you tell me how to do the job so I can save money?
- For liability reasons we are not suppose to give out instructions
and tell a homeowner how to do their own work so please don't ask.
There are alot of good home repair books on the market.
- How much notice do you need when I need help?
- It's good to call a few days before you need a job done so we
can place the job on our schedule and make sure we have all the
parts necessary in stock. Of course we know emergencies do come up.
- What does it cost to get rid of the old fuse box?
- The average charge for a service change is $950.00 - $1500.00.
This is to remove your old fuse box and install a breaker box, ground the new box, repair
or replace the weatherhead, update the new service to current code and permit the job with the State.
- Is Carroll's Electric, Inc. fully licensed?
- We are fully licensed and insured.
- Idaho Power says I need a permit. Do I need to buy that? And what
will it cost?
- We work closely with the state and permit all jobs that we work on that require
a permit. If you are doing your own work you will need to purchase a permit.
The cost will vary according to the job but an average is
$50.00 - $100.00.
- May I do my own work legally?
- In the state of Idaho a homeowner may do electrical work on the
house he is living in but may not have a friend or family do the
work. If you do your own work, you will need to purchase a permit from
the state. Call 334-2183. You will reach a computer with options.
- I want to be an electrician. What do I have to do?
- You must register with the State of Idaho and work for an electrical company.
The State of Idaho requires that you work 8,000 hours as an electrician's helper and complete 4 years
of school before you qualify for your journeyman's license. School is 2 nights a week. For further information
contact the Electrical Bureau at 334-2183.
